What are the Side Effects?
Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is considered safe for most people. While the procedure itself isn’t painful, it’s possible to feel slight pain within a day after the injections. Other common side effects include:
- redness
- swelling
- tenderness
- firmness
- lumps
- skin discoloration
- bruising
All of these should be mild and usually last less than seven days.
Allergic reactions are also rare but can be serious. Call your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms after using Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC:
- breathing difficulties
- hives
- rash
Note: Don’t get Juvederm Ultra Plus XC if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have known allergies to HA or lidocaine.
What are the Pre-Treatment & Post Treatment Care Instructions?
- Avoid sun baths, saunas, and hot showers for 2 weeks before & after the treatment.
- Avoid exercise that can raise your blood pressure and pulse since it can lead to swelling and bruising for 48 hours after the treatment.
- Avoid sun exposure and make a habit to wear a medical-grade sun spectrum.
- Don’t apply makeup for 12-48 hours after the treatment.
- If excess swelling and bruising occur after the treatment, apply cold compresses and ice to the treated area and take Arnica Montana Pills.
- Don’t massage the treated area for at least 2 weeks unless your provider asks you to do so.
